Professional Development Grant Program

Application follows the program outline.

The TACVB Professional Development Grant Program was established in 2003 by the TACVB Board of Directors. The purpose of the fund is to support the convention and visitor bureau industry of Texas through the equipping of DMO professionals and staff at all employment levels. The fund provides student and professional development scholarships to current employees of TACVB member DMOs, with the intention of furthering the knowledge and understanding of the tourism industry, and to promote career development for individuals who wish to positively influence the field on an ongoing basis.

Up to three (3) grants will be awarded annually, with one (1) of these grants designated as they Bob Conwell Professional Development Grant, in honor of Mr. Bob Conwell, one of the Texas tourism's early leaders.

The award is intended to be used for tuition, fees and books for the awardee(s). The award may be reapplied for up to three (3) years as long as the minimum certification requirements are met in the professional development forum. Distribution of the award will be made by the TACVB Board of Directors and may be paid directly to the Texas university, Texas college, or professional development certification of the awardees' choice.  Funds may also be provided as a reimbursement to the awardee(s) as long as sufficient documentation of the valid expenses is provided to TACVB staff. Professional development program options must be relative to the travel and tourism industry and career field and must be certified by a recognized travel industry association or organization within the United States of America.
