The Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (TACVB) is the only organization that provides professional development specifically for staff of destination marketing organizations (DMOs).
TACVB is committed to supporting and developing the convention and tourism industry in Texas through education and sharing ideas.

Education & Events
TACVB offers a variety of professional development training tools to further elevate destination organization team leaders and members:
The TACVB Annual Conference includes educational sessions, keynote presentations and shirtsleeve sessions presented by the top thought leaders in our industry. Topics range from tourism recovery strategies, economic forecasts and interpreting data, to social media strategies, utilizing influencers and upping your trade show game. In addition, the TACVB Annual Conference provides number networking and social activities, and features our educational and destination organization awards presentations.
TACVB Winter Master Classes features concentrated tracks in classroom “workshop” settings where you will work and learn from your peers. Taught by some of the most preeminent tourism leaders in our industry, these classes are designed to help our members increase their expertise in areas of leadership, sales, marketing, and other professional development.
Destination Marketing Principles classes provide the basics of marketing a destination and other “hot topics” based on current industry and economic development trends.
Educational Accreditation
The new Destination Management Specialist (DMS) educational accreditation is the Texas Tourism industry’s highest individual educational achievement. DMS prepares destination organization professionals with the practical and relevant professional development needed to thrive in a constantly changing environment.
Networking & Resources
TACVB offers many opportunities for networking with other members and provides resources to increase the performance of your destination:
The TACVB Resource Library includes sample materials-such as bylaws, job descriptions, annual reports, and marketing plans. The items are contributed by members and are available to assist in managing operations and planning marketing strategies.
The TACVB Think Tank is an online community for Texas destination marketers. Team members are encouraged to participate by asking or answering questions, posting resources, and sharing strategies and best practices with your industry peers.
The Annual Idea Fair competition highlights the creative ideas and projects that are completed throughout the year.
The TACVB Job Board is available free to members and at a minimal cost to nonmember organizations seeking to fill staff vacancies.
The TACVB Email Newsletter and social media channels highlight TACVB educational opportunities, activities, and features industry news.
Scholarships, Educational Certification, & Research Fund
The TACVB Scholarship, Education and Research Fund was established to assist with the following:
Scholarships - Members may apply for Scholarships for TACVB Educational events to aid them in furthering their knowledge and understanding of the destination organization industry and to promote career development.
Education Fund – to bring the best thought leaders in the industry to you!
Research – In 2022 we launched the Texas Tourism Salary Study for leaders of destination organizations. Stay tuned for more research studies to come!
Sales Leads & Cooperative Marketing Opportunities
TACVB offers members opportunities to market their destinations to meeting planners and group business:
The Texas Meeting & Events Tracking (TxMet) system is a database of information shared by destination organization subscribers for association/corporate meetings, sporting events and tour operators that meet in Texas.
Team Texas participants band together cooperatively to promote the State of Texas and their respective destinations at national travel trade shows and events.
Affiliate Members
An Affiliate membership is designed for companies and organizations that provide products and services to the travel and tourism industry. Here are just a few of the benefits of an TACVB affiliate membership:

Legacy Members
Legacy Memberships are open to those past TACVB Members who have retired and/orleft the industry, and are not currently self-employed or connected with the Travel industry.

STANDARD TACVB MEMBERSHIP DUES PRORATE POLICY
To simplify and standardize our policy on prorating membership dues for new TACVB members who join the organization, TACVB staff will apply the following policy.
Full Dues Paid: The full amount of the new member’s membership dues would be owed to TACVB between October 1 and March 31
Prorated Dues Paid: Beginning April 1, the new member’s membership dues would be prorated at 60% of the original amount.
