8:30-11:30 am -- Historical Case Study Tour --- Tour of the Mission Trail:: El Paso is home to 400 years of rich history and some of the oldest active missions in the country, dating back to the 17th century. The Ysleta and Socorro missions and the San Elizario Chapel are living witnesses to the faith of the Spanish and the Native American heritage. Forget velvet ropes keeping you from true interaction. You're more likely to hear the crackle of bridal rice underfoot, lingering from yesterday's wedding ceremony. The Case Study is limited to 45 people and is $30. Tickets can be purchased during conference registration.

1:00-4:00 pm -- Destination Marketing Principles presented by Mark Thompson and Marla Roe --- Destination Marketing Principles is designed especially for YOU. If you're a local or regional DMO staff member, hotel and attractions partner, elected official, board member, or volunteer and advocate, then this is the seminar for you and offers 3 hours of information that is beneficial to anyone involved in promoting a destination to visitors.(Rio Grande A)

  • Services --- Hand on Servicing 2.0, presented by Shane Sorenson, Visit Plano --- ​Sugar Shane's Super Sweet Servicing Session 2.0 will go more in depth about what you can do to provide outstanding service to your clients. Learn about new tools available such as digital room setup and design, e-check-ins, and other tools you can utilize for streamlining daily duties while also touching on some best practices for common servicing tasks. 11:45 am-1:15 pm -- General Session Luncheon --- THLA Updates & Short Term Rentals, presented by Scott Joslove, THLA --- Scott will talk about emerging trends in the lodging industry; convention center expansions and hesitant city councils, extended stay lodging issues, and short term rentals in Texas, what is happening at the city and state level and how it could affect the lodging and tourism industry.   • CEO/Leadership --- DMAI – IT IS A NEW DAY-Meet the new DMAI!, presented by Alison Best, DMAI --- In this session Alison Best, DMAI's EVP of Membership, covers the association and outlines who DMAI is, the team, and the priorities in the coming year. This session will be a great overview of DMAI's products and ways that members can get more engaged. As TACVB members and representatives of the trade association that supports the work being done in Texas, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn how Texas DMOs can engage with the DMAI team and use their resources to be best in class locally. In this session learn the latest trends and best practices to help you leverage video content for your destination.   • Tourism/General Interest --- How TxDot Travel Can Help You!, presented by Joan Henderson, TxDOT Travel Division --- Joan Henderson, director of TxDOT’s Travel Information Division will talk about how “going local” caused a brand revolution at Texas Highways magazine that boosted engagement across the board.   • Sales/Services --- Past, Present, and Future: What is TxMet? How can it help your DMO recruit meetings? presented by Tina Brohlin, Sarah Page & Nancy White, Strategic Fulfillment Group --- Learn about where we've been with the TxMet platform, the improvements that are currently being made to the data, and what our plans are for building a brand new platform for TxMet subscribers in the immediate future.   • Sports --- CVB and Parks & Recreation Departments; Relationships that can define and set your destination apart! presented by John Frieble, Dominique Powell & JD Wood --- This session will dive into the conversation of how to develop and cultivate one of the most important partnerships in your community: CVB and the Parks & Recreation department. We want, through conversation and open dialogue, to remove the stigma of CVB versus Parks & Recreation and move toward CVB and Parks & Recreation departments working together; singing the same song, not only to clients, but to key stakeholders in the community. Day 4:: Friday, August 19

8:30 am-11:30 pm -- Historical Case Study Tour --- The Magoffin Home State Historic Site/El Paso Digital Wall/Transportation Museum:Explore the settlement of the region and transportation responsible for modern day El Paso. A striking adobe structure, Magoffin Home State Historic Site explores the stories of a multicultural family who actively participated in US expansion and settlement, military service, trade on the Santa Fe-Chihuahua Trail, Civil War turmoil and US/Mexico relations. The only one of its kind in the United States, The Digital Wall, or DIGIE, is a vast collections of images and videos exploring El Paso's past and present. It examines its people and its many cultures on giant 3-D touch sensitive TV screens at the Museum of History. The collection of images that powers DIGIE can also be browsed online and you can upload your own collection of images telling your own life story or your family history for all to share. The downtown Visitors Center is home to the Railroad and Transportation Museum and Locomotive No. 1, a 4-4-0 type steam locomotive, built in 1857 by Breese, Kneeland, and is the only locomotive built by that firm still in existence. The Case Study is limited to 45 people and is $30. Tickets can be purchased during conference registration.
