POSITION: Marketing Manager
STATUS: FLSA Exempt
FUNCTION:
This position reports to the Director of Communications and is responsible for the successful management of marketing strategy in the Fredericksburg CVB’s destination marketing efforts. The role requires an innovator, a trendsetter, a progressive thinker who can connect traditional, digital, social media and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) components to the FCVB’s strategies. With insight from the Director of Communications, this person plans and executes these initiatives including traditional media, search, email marketing, mobile marketing, social and website development that insures SEO optimization. This individual reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a robust, interactive website that engages visitors and achieves agreed performance goals.
Responsible for website content development and maintenance using a content management system. Website content includes copy, photos, events, video, mapping, itineraries, graphics, etc.
Responsible for planning, implementation and measurement of a robust social media calendar for both the FCVB tourism brand and the FCVB’s local stewardship campaign, LoveFBGTX. Includes planning, developing and executing dynamic engaging content on a variety of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to coincide with the calendar of events, digital marketing campaigns and seasonal marketing needs.
Responsible for planning, implementation and measurement of email marketing communications targeting opt-in subscriber databases.
With direction from other FCVB Staff, vendors and the FCVB advertising agency of record, responsible for planning, implementation and measurement of search engine marketing initiatives including search engine optimization for organic search and pay-per-click advertising campaigns.
Establish and oversee electronic communication to industry partners to build interest and support for marketing programs.
Work with other CVB staff to manage and expand the FCVB’s visual assets and develop a system for collecting, cataloging and sharing assets.
Responsible for maintenance, training for CVB staff, updates and research for new modules related to tailored website via the CMS.
Collaborate extensively with the Communications Manager to ensure timely and accurate website content development and editing incorporating use of the City of Fredericksburg and Gillespie County HOT funding resources such as Granicus and similar platforms.
Collaborate extensively with the Communications Manager to write and develop content for various CVB uses including newsletters for all market segments, blogs, website listings, paid advertorial placements, etc. with a focus on engagement and established KPIs.
Collaborate extensively with the Communications Manager to write and publish FCVB website content including listing for attractions, lodging, restaurants, etc. and ensure all requested updates are completed in a timely manner.
Collaborate extensively with the Communications Manager to develop custom graphics and resources for FCVB initiatives including reporting, presentations, newsletters, social media, industry events, etc.
Collaborate extensively with the Communications Manager to ensure marketing materials, website and collateral are on brand, accurate and up to date.
Responsible for planning, creating, implementing and maintaining a variety of microsites that are separate from the main website.
Assist with the creative implementation and execution of the LoveFBGTX destination stewardship campaign using traditional media strategies, grassroots efforts, community engagement, social media and more.
Prepare detailed monthly reporting on marketing initiatives.
Review the web sites of other destination marketing organizations, hotels and attractions to ensure the CVB web site is always on the leading edge.
Maintain and administer all legal Internet domains and security certificates owned by the CVB.
Ensure that all Internet standards are met and that the CVB does not intentionally violate any standards that would place the domain in jeopardy.
Ensure the implementation of the website as a key marketing element of the CVB; ensure the information and offers on the website are kept current.
Responsible for the implementation of the latest technology into the CVB website; ensures the optimization of the website and implementation of all Search Engine Marketing (SEM) strategies so that the CVB sites are ranked as high as possible.
Ensure all digital marketing strategies are implemented on time and on budget.
Ensure the compilation and distribution of accurate reports on all digital strategies.
Support Director of Marketing and Communications and other FCVB staff with preparation of annual budget planning.
Represent the FCVB at media, tradeshow, industry and community events.
Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.

Reports to and works under the general supervision of the Director of Communications
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:
Detail oriented with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) computer skills.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Excellent writing and editing skills for online channels.
Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) Style Guide, specifically for online channels.
Command of the basic principles of journalism, English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation and business correspondence.
Demonstrated ability to utilize and operate in all areas of social media, keeping current on emerging trends.
Enthusiasm for web, social media and marketing trends.
Extensive editing and proofing skills.
Strong project management and time management skills.
Ability to manage and complete multiple simultaneous projects.
Dynamic personality with the ability to shift modes of operation seamlessly.
Ability to work evenings and weekends or irregular hours.
Ability to analyze data to assess performance and ROI.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with visitors and partners.
Must develop a complete working knowledge of the Fredericksburg area, including all local attractions and amenities.
Technical certificates and certifications are a plus.
STARTING SALARY: Compensation is based on an established salary range, commensurate with industry experience, and includes a basic benefits package
