Job Summary
Works with a variety of media outlets to promote Grapevine as a meeting, convention and leisure destination. This position regularly promotes Grapevine attractions, accommodations, dining, recreation and retail facilities, as well as special events and festivals to local, regional, national and international consumer and trade media, visitors, residents and others.
Essential Functions
1. Works under minimal supervision to update media contacts, editorial calendars and potential Grapevine media coverage opportunities.
2. Using a high degree of independent judgment and reasoning works on press release drafts, media familiarization tours, social media efforts and other media activities.
3. Updates media contact lists, focusing on finding new outlets and contacts for Grapevine media coverage.
4. Creates initial draft of monthly press releases specifically relating to Grapevine events and activities, the Palace Theatre, shows at the Grapevine Convention Center and others as assigned.
5. Researches editorial calendars for local, regional, national and international publications.
6. Represents Grapevine on the Visit DFW’s Media Committee.
7. Assists with the planning of and participate in media familiarization tours for visiting media guests.
8. Assists with social media posting for the Grapevine CVB.
9. Assists with development of initial drafts of press releases for community stakeholders and marketing partners.
10. Attends tradeshow and industry events as a CVB communications representative.
11. Assists with maintenance of relationships with industry partners such as the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism, local hospitality partners and others.
12. Assists with editing of various Grapevine collateral pieces such as Grapevine Today, a variety of brochures and website content.
13. Assists with the planning and preparation of a variety of media missions and media events throughout the year.
14. Develops a complete working knowledge of Grapevine including all of its attractions and amenities.
15. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
16. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
17. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
Required Skills
• Must be able to ensure a timely and appropriate strategy for the promotion of the City of Grapevine as a tourism and convention sales destination.
• Must be able to oversee the production and distribution of press releases and other materials to the media.
• Must be able to facilitate the coordination, development and production of brochures to promote the City of Grapevine as a tourism and convention sales destination.
• Must be able to facilitate the coordination, development and production of written materials such as Grapevine Today and/or other similar marketing pieces to promote the City of Grapevine as a tourism and convention sales destination.
• Must be able to ensure the submission of story ideas, background information and press releases to selected publications.
• Must be able to manage the coordination of social media content.
• Must be able to ensure the development and management of annual Communications budget.
• Ability to create and edit a variety of written work including press releases, presentations, brochures, website content, etc.
• Must understand basic principles of journalism, English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation and business correspondence.
• Ability to utilize modern office procedures, methods and equipment including computer software.
• Must have demonstrated ability to utilize and operate for most-current uses of social media trends.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have complete command of the basic principles of journalism, English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation and business correspondence.
• Must have outstanding organizational skills.
• Must be able to develop a complete working knowledge of Grapevine, including all of its attractions and amenities.
• Ability to create and edit a variety of written work including press releases, presentations, brochures, website content, collateral and more.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Position requires a 4-year degree plus three years of experience in public relations, journalism or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Flexibility to work irregular hours/schedules and overnight travel.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is rarely exposed to disagreeable environmental factors. There will be occasional exposure to outdoor weather elements as the position requires working outdoors during CVB sponsored events throughout the normal course of the year.

This job requires the ability to work in an office environment where the noise level is usually moderate.
