The Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus (TACVB) is the only organization that provides professional development specifically for staff of destination marketing organizations (DMOs). TACVB is committed to supporting and developing the convention and tourism industry in Texas through education and sharing ideas.

TACVB membership offers many benefits. The following are just the beginning.


Professional Development

TACVB provides exceptional education and training designed specifically for DMO staff.


TACVB Professional Development Opportunities are provided at our Annual Conference and Winter Education Conference each year  along with a variety of regional meetings. These continuing education classes help our members to increase their expertise in areas of hospitality management, leadership growth, advocacy, sales and marketing and other professional development areas.


Destination Marketing Principles seminars are held regionally 3-4 times each year. They provide the basics of marketing a destination and other “hot topics” as desired by the regional hosts.


Texas Destination Marketer (TDM) Certification provides an ongoing educational framework for marketing our members as a destination for both tourism and group business. Successful participants earn their TDM certification through a challenging course of study.


Members may apply for Scholarships and Professional Development Grants to aid them in furthering their knowledge and understanding of the DMO industry and to promote career development. College students and DMO members who wish to positively influence the field on an ongoing basis are welcome to apply.


Sales Leads and Cooperative Marketing Opportunities

TACVB offers members opportunities to market their destinations to meeting planners and group business.


The Texas Meeting & Events Tracking (TxMET) system is a database of information shared by DMOs subscribers for association/corporate meetings, sporting events and tour operators that meet in Texas.


Team Texas participants band together cooperatively to promote the State of Texas and their respective destinations at national travel trade shows and events.


Networking and Resources

TACVB offers many opportunities for networking with other members and provides resources that help in doing your job more effectively. Also, all TACVB members receive reduced registration rates at our seminars and conferences.


The TACVB Resource Library and the TACVB Think Tank Facebook Group offers sample documents, files, presentations, and other resources to assist you in doing your job.


The annual Idea Fair competition highlights the create ideas and projects that are completed throughout the year.


Members have the ability to post job announcements on the TACVB website free of charge.

Legacy Members

Legacy Memberships are open to those past TACVB Members who have totally retired and/or moved away from the industry and are not currently self-employed or connected with the Travel industry.

Opportunity to serve on committees



To simplify and standardize our policy on prorating membership dues for new TACVB members who join the organization, TACVB staff will apply the following policy.

Full Dues Paid: The full amount of the new member’s membership dues would be owed to TACVB between October 1 and March 31 (the first six months of our fiscal year).

Prorated Dues Paid: Beginning April 1, the new member’s membership dues would be prorated at 60% of the original amount.
