What is the Texas Destination Marketer Certification Program (TDMC)?

The TDMC program is administered by the Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus and serves as an educational framework for marketing Texas as a destination for both tourism and group business. The program provides a structure for continuing professional development and is offered to tourism and hospitality professionals.  Click here to read the full TDMC program guidelines.

What does TDMC offer?

The TDMC program offers education and training in 12 disciplines (listed below) with emphasis on best practices in the tourism and hospitality industry. The program demonstrates TACVB's strong commitment to strengthening the knowledge base of employees in convention and visitor bureaus and destination marketing organizations. Upon completion of the program, a professional TDMC Designation is awarded.


What are the TDMC requirements?

Candidates who earn and receive six (6) certificates including the Texas Heritage/Cultural Tourism discipline and attend the Destination Marketing Principles Seminar (formerly CVB 101) will be awarded the TDM Designation and recognition at the TACVB Annual Conference. All candidates MUST register online, select a minimum of six (6) disciplines, and pay a one-time, upfront program fee of $250 prior to beginning the program. Candidates interested in pursuing additional certificates, above the required six (6) disciplines, will be subject to a $20/per discipline additional fee. How to register for the TDMC program?

To register for the TDMC program and each discipline ($20 per discipline), click here and follow the steps provided in the program registration section.

Online TDMC Program Registration Instructions

  1. Log in to TACVB member profile.
  2. Click on "Programs" in the blue ribbon top bar and select "TDM Certification Program."
  3. Complete Registration Form and payment process.  Be sure to select the desired disciplines (6 disciplines are required to receive TDMC Designation).
  4. Registration information should appear with your contact information.  Scroll to the bottom to solve the easy math question.
  5. In the Attendee Registration menu, select the applicable programs discipline ($20 each).
  6. Save and Finalize Registration.
  7. In the Checkout Steps menu, complete payment information and proceed to confirmation.


How To Upload TDMC Credits & Form to Member Profile?

  1. Log into your TACVB member profile.
  2. Click on “Manage Profile” in the right hand sidebar.
  3. Scroll down to “Content and Features” and click on “Professional Development.”
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the next screen and click on the green+sign to add an entry.
  5. Complete the pop up form (Instructions for completing the form are visible behind it in the background).
    1. Enter the total number of credits earned per TDM discipline (e.g., Administration/Finance, Marketing, etc.).
    2. List the names of the sessions attended for each TDM discipline in the “Description” field.
  6. Upload stamped TDM forms by using the “Attachments” feature at the bottom of the pop up entry form!
  7. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each selected TDM discipline.
  8. TACVB staff is notified of your entries via email and can easily verify and approve them.
