The TACVB Mid-Winter Education Conference is an opportunity for you to start your New Year off rejuvenated with tons of new ideas that will help you excel in 2016. Mid-Winter is a great place to connect with other convention and visitor professionals. The Education Conference offers fantastic education sessions with top-notch networking. Tuesday, January 19

  • 9:00 a.m. -- Noon: Case Study Historical Tour: Starting in the Downtown Museum District, the tour will stop at the Fire Museum of Texas, Texas Energy Museum, and the Edison Museum. There will also be a visit to the John Jay French House and the Chambers House. During the tour you will also get a complimentary Destination Training Tour from Beaumont’s Director of Tourism, Elizabeth Eddins. Click here to register for this Case Study Tour.

  • 9:00 a.m. -- 11:30 a.m.: TACVB Board Meeting (Diplomats I-IV)

  • 2:45 p.m. -- 3:15 p.m.: State of TACVB presented by Marla Roe and Sarah Page -- As we welcome a new executive director, learn about the current state of the association and the plans for the future! (Grand Ballroom A-C )

  • 3:30 p.m. -- 4:45 p.m.: Opening General Session: Motivational artist gives a keynote performance that brings art, music and the spoken word together to inspire individuals to achieve fulfillment in their personal lives and challenges organizations to implement creativity and innovation to accomplish their vision. Presented by Richard Hight (Grand Ballroom A-C)

  • 6:00 p.m. -- 9:00 p.m.: Beaumont Bash with a Bang -- When the sun goes down Beaumont’s culture and cuisine collide and create the perfect atmosphere for a party! Dance to the tunes of Katie Whitney & the Draw. They will keep you entertained with an eclectic mix of hits from the 60s to today plus a growing body of soul-filled country/rock originals while you sample tastes of Boudain, Gumbo, Etouffee and more. The Beaumont CVB has planned an opening reception with a little something extra, just for you. Come create memories, you won't want to miss the Beaumont Bash! (Fountain View Ballroom)

  • 8:45 a.m. -- 10:00 a.m.: General Session: "Measuring the True Impact of Social Media for Tourism"-- Social media is a critical piece of the marketing puzzle for the travel and tourism business, but how do you know if it is working? Following numbers are not enough anymore, learn how to measure the true impact of social media on the bottom line. Presented by, Kami Huyse (Grand Ballroom A-C)

    • Sales: "What to do and what NOT to do during a reverse tradeshow!" -- The wave of the future is here -- speed dating for business. Gone are the days of standing in your booth trying to get clients to step in and talk with you -- reverse tradeshows are taking over. As with any sales effort there are multiple approaches, techniques, and theories about which is the 'right way.' In this session we will talk about best practices for reverse tradeshows and get some tips and tricks from experts in the Texas tourism industry. Presented by, Amy Zientek, Visit Lubbock (Ballroom E)

    • Sports: "Crisis 101/Can you handle your next crisis?" -- Whether you are hosting your next sporting event, tournament or festival, are you prepared if there is a crisis? This session will provide tactics and processes to enable attendees to start telling a more authentic and entertaining destination story online.     • Sales: "Working with 3rd Party Planners to Macadamize your ROI" --Having a strong relationship with Third Parties is a key component to increasing your market share. Come learn about how third parties strategize with our CVB/DMO partners through communication, technology and face time. Presented by, Monica Palacios, HelmsBriscoe (Ballroom E)
    • Services & Sports: "Event Housing from a Pro" -- Hear firsthand from a full time event housing professional about the newest trends in event housing, explore different housing models, and hear case studies of how other cities around the country are capitalizing on event housing to simplify bookings, increase pickup, and provide the best attendee experience possible. Sure, great restaurants help, but there is a lot more to it than just the restaurant. Creating a foodie culture in your city is possible.   • 3:30 p.m. -- 4:15 p.m.: General Session: "The Coulda, Woulda, and Shouldas of Destination Marketing" -- Every DMO is leaving opportunities on the table when it comes to what they’re currently doing campaign initiatives. This session will explore some of these missed opportunities and enable DMOs to start executing well-thought-out, fully integrated campaigns that leave no opportunities on the table. Each attendee will leave the session with a better understanding of what integrated marketing can do for their destination’s marketing efforts and discover ways to give their upcoming campaigns an extra boost of sophistication and success.   • 4:15 p.m. -- 5:00 p.m.: General Session: "How to Conquer the Creative by Committee Conundrum" -- You’ve done the research, you’ve created the single message that fits your strategy and now it’s time to show everyone the next campaign. And that’s when the Creative by Committee Monster is created. Steering committees. Local shop owners. The Mayor and City Council. Even your neighbor has feedback on the creative and brand you’ve created for your town. The fact is: Not everyone on the committee is qualified to give an opinion. Not everyone understands the single brand positioning idea and not everyone has the background information that you have. But. You’ve got to play the politics of the town, keep steering committees a part of the process. It’s a fact of life.  Thus the Creative by Committee Conundrum is born. You will be provided with best practices to not just “host” a blogger for a day or two but create a relationship that lasts and will provide benefits tenfold.   • 9:30 a.m. -- 9:45 a.m.: Coffee and Refreshment Break

  • 9:45 a.m. -- 10:30 a.m.: General Session: "Get Streamlined, Get Focused, Get Organized: Strategies to Create a Successful 2016" -- Are you ready for the new year? If so, we’ll try to be friends anyway. Be inspired to have your best year yet by learning how to create and live priorities, streamline  workload so we have more time for what’s important and get organized for the new year. Make sure you’ve had your coffee before attending this fast-paced session that will help you start 2016 on the right foot! Presented by, Kendra Wright, Saffire (Grand Ballroom A-C)

  • 10:30 a.m. -- 11:45 p.m.: Closing General Session: “Fired-Up Action Through Creating Experiences, Sharing Moments, and Living Fulfilled!” This high energy final session will take what you have learned during the entire conference and set you in motion for success throughout 2016. You will learn how to stay in ‘Fired-Up Action’ through the phenomenal experiences that you create with friends/family, the inspirational moments that are shared with the ‘wanderlusts’ that cross your path and ultimately feel fulfilled by the people you invite into your world to help along their way. A brilliant way to learn how The Bucket List Life™ concepts apply to you both personally and professionally. Presented by, Kenyon Salo, The Bucket List Life™ (Grand Ballroom A-C)

  • Noon -- 2:30 p.m.: Case Study Historical Tour: This tour will feature Beaumont’s Wild Side of town, exploring Tyrrell Park’s Beaumont Botanical Gardens and Observatory. Then there will be a tour of Cattail Marsh, the newest addition to Beaumont's nature assets for visitors. Cattail Marsh is inside the City of Beaumont’s 900 acre water treatment center that has become a birding oasis, featuring 320 of the 596 native birds including a nesting pair of Bald Eagles and of course…alligators! There will be also be a visit to the Ben J. Rogers Regional Visitor Center and the Clifton Steamboat Museum. During the tour you will also get a complimentary Destination Training Tour from Beaumont’s Director of Tourism, Elizabeth Eddins.
