Digital Marketing and Communications Manager

Educational and Experience Requirements:

Four-year college degree in hospitality management, tourism, marketing, advertising, communications or related field, with at least three years of recent CVB, hotel, or hospitality industry sales experience preferred. Significant industry experience may be considered in lieu of college degree. Must be highly proficient in computer skills and technology, as well as digital marketing.

 

Reports to:

CVB Vice President

 

Function:

To work with the SACVB leadership in the development, management, and execution of the SACVB marketing plan strategy and tactics across website and all social media channels. To oversee all marketing communications and content initiatives across multiple platforms and formats to drive leads, sales, engagement, retention, visitation, and positive stakeholder engagement. To collaborate with SACVB staff to help further define and communicate the brand story of San Angelo.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The position will have responsibilities in the digital marketing and communications area as outlined below:

 

Digital Marketing and Communications

1.      Ensure all content is on brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels of content and communication, including online, social media, email, public relations, mobile, video, image library, print and in-person.

2.      Develop an all-inclusive marketing calendar that includes overarching content strategy across all platforms including website, blogger programs, print/digital ads, brochures, video, and digital assets.

3.      Execution of a functional content calendar focused on meetings and group activities reaching and/or serving determined stakeholder groups.

4.      Work with CVB Vice President on the development of a digital strategy.

5.      Work with outside vendors on existing contracts for social media and SEM.

6.      Write and edit branded content

7.      Assist with the development of PowerPoint presentations for future speaking engagements, showcasing San Angelo as a visitor and meeting destination and sharing the importance of the industry to the citizens of San Angelo

8.      Gather data and handle analytics and make recommendations based on those results.

9.      Work with CVB sales staff on the development of a digital Meeting Planner Guide to include transportation, caterers, entertainers, tour itineraries, meeting facilities, media, annual events, accommodation information, golf courses, step-on guide services, speakers for meeting planners, and other possible requests from planners.

10.  Remain familiar with competing destinations, facilities, or issues that may impact the SACVB’s ability to see and effectively promote San Angelo.

11.  Assist with the development and maintenance of www.discoversanangelo.com and other web-based needs.

12.  Utilize IDSS/Tempest software

13.  Assist CVB Vice President on niche marketing opportunities to increase overnight visits to San Angelo

14.  Research San Angelo events for website calendar and encourage event organizers to add their own events to website

15.  Maintain Texas Friendly Hospitality Training quarterly schedule and promotion to stakeholders

16.  Stay up to date on industry best practices, standards, and benchmarks by reading publications and attending education classes, as approved by the CVB Vice President.

17.  Input events to industry calendars in a timely manner

18.  Design and produce tourism publications including, but not limited to, rack brochure, visitors guide, etc.

19.  Prepare digital marketing and communications objectives as part of the annual marketing plan and budgeting process. 

20.  Make recommendations to the CVB Vice President regarding digital marketing and communications policies and procedures.

21.  Produce monthly reports on social media channel’s activities and web statistics

22.  Partner with local organizations and businesses to aid in the promotion of overnight stays in San Angelo.

23.  Attend education events as approved by CVB Vice President, to keep current on business trends affecting the travel and tourism industry.

24.  Assists CVB Vice President in special projects, as needed.

25.  Assists Chamber staff with special projects, as needed.

26.  Create advertising for print and digital publications

 

Requirements:

1.      Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Photoshop and Illustrator, a plus.

2.      Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of social media platforms.

3.      Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a small group.

4.      Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Extreme attention to detail a must.

5.      Knowledge of San Angelo and travel and tourism industry strongly preferred.

6.      Ability to lift and carry boxes up to 35 lbs.

7.      Must be computer literate and internet savvy.

8.      Must have valid Texas driver’s license.

9.      Must have reliable transportation.

10.  Must be able to travel overnight throughout the year. Some air travel will be required.

11.  Must be able to work some weekends and evenings, as required.

12.  Flexible and organized
