Speaker Bio-Mike Chandler

Mike Chandler

Mike began his professional volleyball career as the Volleyball Commissioner in 1984 for the Wisconsin Badger State Games and continued his career as the Regional Commissioner for the USA Volleyball Wisconsin Region, formerly known as the USVBA Lakeland Region. In 1991, Chandler moved to Tampa, Florida and founded Gulf Coast Juniors, a non-profit junior volleyball club located in Clearwater, Florida where he served as served as the President, Director and Head Coach. In 1991.

Highlighting his major contributions while a volunteer with USA Volleyball’s National Championships Division, Chandler was responsible for moving the USA Volleyball Junior Olympics into a convention center “Under One Roof”. As a result, USA Volleyball grew from less than 300 boys and girls teams in 1991, to today's National Championship Events consisting of over 1200 girls’ teams, 400 boys’ teams and 400 adult teams at their respective championships. This move changed the sport and is now used as the standard for hosting volleyball events.

Chandler’s event experience with USA Volleyball turned from volunteer to a fulltime position with the USA Volleyball National Office in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he spent 13 years leading all operations for the USA National Team tours, International Tournaments and the USAV National Championship events. At USA Volleyball, Mike was responsible for the development of RFP processes and contract negotiations with venues, hotels, local organizations and vendors.

Currently, Chandler is the Principal and founder of Altitude Event Consulting and has over 25 years of event development and management experience. AEC has the resources and knowledge to help event organizers, rights holders, CVB’s and Sports Commissions with all aspects related to events from the bid process, creating new events, enhancing existing events to the reconciliation of an event and everything in between.

Currently, Mike resides in Florissant, Colorado.
