Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau

Carl Watson, executive director of the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau, has announced his resignation, effective Friday, June 30, 2017.

Watson and his wife plan to relocate to West Texas where he will assume the position of president of the Dumas/Moore County Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center.

During his two-year tenure at the Nacogdoches CVB, Watson oversaw the launch of a new branding campaign and interactive website, updated operations in the Charles Bright Visitor Center, restructured accounting processes, and hired a new sales and marketing team.

“I want to thank the CVB board and staff for all of their hard work during the past two years,” Watson said. “I leave knowing that we have pretty much achieved all of the major goals set forth by the board upon my arrival and I am confident that the CVB will continue to grow tourism in Nacogdoches through its innovative marketing and superior sales efforts.”

He also thanked the CVB’s board of directors for the opportunity to be a part of the CVB team.

“I will always cherish the memories of being involved in helping promote Texas’ oldest town.”

Dr. Mark Barringer, chairman of the board, added “We wish Carl all the best and thank him for his work here in Nacogdoches. He helped make the CVB a professional destination marketing organization that will be an asset to our community for years to come."
